After another three years, we get another instalment in one of my favourite horror film series, and I'm really looking forward to it
Firstly, I suggest you check out the trailer here:
Coming to cinemas late February 2026, I'm hoping this one is going to be a good one. I like a lot of these films, and they all stand up as being quite good with a few weak points here and there (Scream 4 wasn't too good imo, and Scream 6 was a bit so-so), however, I do wonder how much longer we can get out of the franchise, as the formula is very predictable and they are a bit samey in places.
Since Wes Craven's passing in 2015, I have noticed the quality decline in Scream a little bit - the first three films were really good (yeah, I liked Scream 3, deal with it)
What I am glad to see is that Neve Campbell is reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in the 7th instalment, as is David Arquette as Deputy Dewey Riley. I've heard there's some other legacy characters coming back so I do wonder if this is more of a prequel or maybe an alternative time line, or, a sequel with some flashbacks here and there.
Anyway, as it stands, I'm looking forward to this and will try to catch it at the cinema, which is probably the first time I've actually wanted to watch a modern film at the cinema in a long time.
But until then ...........
